Information and support in one place.

After a baby is born, the placenta should also be delivered. The midwifes and obstetricians caring for mothers are trained to check that the placenta and all membranes have been safely delivered in childbirth. If they are not checked properly, and a mother is left with “retained products”, this puts her at risk of developing infection or internal bleeding. This can happen during a vaginal delivery and a caesarean section.
